Washing facilities Wi-Fi Enjoy a farm stay on this Sussex dairy farm found mid way along the route of the South Downs The Mouse House we are pleased to say, was not once home to a family of mice. Neither is it particularly small, but just a great name for what was once the farm food store in this beautifully converted farm building. The Mouse House is on a working dairy farm on the edge of the village of West Chiltington. It is one of three stunningly converted farm buildings that form a private courtyard of holiday cottages on the edge of this working farm.
Newly converted it has retained the original features that these classic buildings have. The exposed roof timbers and vaulted ceiling space really open up the accommodation, and clever use of up-lighters show it off to good effect. This cottage is comprehensively equipped for two people with a large kitchen and living area and a double bedroom and shower room en-suite.
Double doors open onto the courtyard shared with the other cottages which being away from the farm give a private area to relax and dine outside. It is central for much that Sussex has to offer and there are beautiful walks over the fields to the west towards the award winning Vineyards in Nutbourne, two miles away.

The east elevation, also stucco finished, displays a wide bay and banks of windows offset with a feature archway. To the north and west, the elevations are of warm brick with open studwork and plaster infill incorporating some fine period details, including decorative archways, beams and timbers, pretty oriel window and a balcony. This is all set under hipped tiled roofs with pretty gables at the rear.
A fine provenance of the property is widely documented, dating back to the Battle of Hastings when William the Conqueror gave the estate to his half brother Odo, Bishop of Bayeux and Earl of Kent. During the latter part of the 16th century the property passed into the hands of the Stede family who remained its custodians for about years. The property is mentioned in the reknowned Hasted’s ‘The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent’ and one of its subsequent owners, architect and author Robert Goodsall who bought the house in wrote two books: The property was requisitioned as an Army officers’ mess during the 2nd World War and it is also reputed that Churchill and Montgomery met at Stede Court during this time.
Providing in excess of 9, sq ft of residential accommodation and with exceptional entertaining space, the accommodation is of excellent balance and proportions.

In Lewes this event not only marks the date of the uncovering of the Gunpowder Plot in , but also commemorates the memory of the seventeen Protestant martyrs burnt at the stake for their faith during the Marian Persecutions. The celebrations, which controversially involve burning an effigy of Pope Paul V , who was pope during the martyrdoms, are the largest and most famous bonfire night celebrations in the country. Lewes Farmers’ Market, one of the first in the UK, was started in the s by Common Cause Co-operative Ltd and is a popular re-invention of Lewes as a market town.
The Farmers’ Market takes place in pedestrianised Cliffe High Street on the first and third Saturdays of every month, with local food producers coming to sell their wares under covered market stalls. A weekly food market in the Lewes Market Tower was established in July by Transition Town Lewes to allow traders to sell local produce. In September , Lewes launched its own currency, the Lewes Pound , in an effort to increase trade within the town.
Like the similar local currency in Totnes , the initiative is part of the Transition Towns movement. The Lewes Pound and the Transition Towns movement have received criticism for a failure to address the needs of the wider Lewes population, especially lower socio-economic groups. Many of the notes were sold on eBay at a higher amount. Early numbers and sequenced notes fetched very high prices from foreign collectors.
Landmarks[ edit ] Lewes Castle The town is the location of several significant historic buildings, including Lewes Castle , the remains of Lewes Priory , Bull House the former home of Tom Paine , Southover Grange and public gardens, and a sixteenth-century timber-framed Wealden hall house known as Anne of Cleves House because it was given to her as part of her divorce settlement from Henry VIII , though she never lived there.
The steep and cobbled Keere Street is home to many historic buildings, including a timber framed antiquarian bookshop.

Primary source references As a preface to this document, I want to point out that it is a shame that we have to continue to refute the same arguments that evolutionists keep bringing up over and over again in their attempts to argue against the fact of creation, which fact has been well established since the day the earth was created ex nihilo several thousand years ago.
It is also a shame that the masses have bought all this based on some circular reasoning about fossils, where fossils tend to be found buried, similarities between various life forms, the presence of certain decay products in rocks, and other inherently speculative arguments about the past, based on phenomena that exist in the present.
If I hope to accomplish anything, it will be to simply encourage critical thinking. One must get past the arguments ad populum that its popularity counts for something , ad hominem that if you attack the person making the argument, this counts for something , and especially ad baculum that there are people who have the clout to decree it as true , to ask the key questions and challenge the unsubstantiated assumptions and thinking of those who would hold to the evolution position.

For example, they pretend to be police officers who have just arrested someone using a copy of your bank card and alerting you that your money is in danger, or pretending to be from your phone or computer service provider and claiming that there is a problem with your system that they need to fix. Fraudsters often claim to be officials and can seem very genuine but you should always bear in mind that callers may not be who they claim to be, even if they already seem to know details such as your name and address.
Genuine police or bank staff would never ask you to withdraw or transfer cash from your account, nor would they ever ask for your four-digit bank PIN number. Never tell anyone this number, it is for you to use in cash machines and shops only. Genuine computer firms will not call unexpectedly to help fix your computer. The most common type of fraud affecting older residents in Sussex is “advance fee” fraud, where fraudsters persuade victims to make advance or upfront payments for goods or financial gains that do not then materialise.
Beware of anyone asking for money in advance. For example, fraudsters may claim that you are entitled to PPI compensation or that you are to inherit money from a relative but you need to pay legal or administrative fees first. What can you do to protect yourself? Be sceptical of callers, even those who claim to be officials. NEVER give personal information, such as your date of birth or bank details, to unexpected callers.

Bing Microsoft Accommodation near the show It is best to book as far as possible in advance. This is not only because nearby hotels and guest houses tend get booked up well before the date of an airshow but also because prices can be better when you book early online. There are plenty of booking agencies. We find that many of the well known ones are better at finding hotels from international or larger UK chains and may suggest hotels in main towns or cities quite a distance from the show site.
If you need plenty of options, we find that, between them, LateRooms and Expedia list a good selection of smaller, as well as bigger, hotels and will find accommodation in villages and small towns as well as the main centres. Expedia also give, and take, Nectar points. Click either blue agency name for a list of hotels and guest houses near the show. The venue is already built into both links, so when the list comes up you just have to enter your dates.
Trivago will list competitive prices for a range of hotels, but they might not necessarily find them all, because some chains do not subscribe to their service. You may also get a better rate if you book direct with an hotel, especially if you are a member of a loyalty or rewards scheme. There are six Premier Inn hotels within 15 miles, the nearest of which is in Chichester.
